KOI
ORIGINAL CONCEPT
KOI as a concept first began when I started playing with a mental image of a Koi fish swimming in the clouds. The meaning of Koi is steeped in love and friendship, which I believe is best formed around great food. To swim among clouds is to suspend reality and a feeling that’s possible only when fully immersed in a moment.

At the heart of KOI is its dual essence: a highly curated tea café at the front and a sushi bar at the back. Together, the café and bar seamlessly transition from day to evening, providing guests with a breadth of sensorial experiences.

The space blends intimate nooks, perfect for connecting with friends, with open areas that encourage community. The interplay of light and shadow, the gentle flow of curving lines, staggered seating, and natural materials all work together to create an environment that is both calming and fully immersive.
To find oneself suspended in a moment of joy surrounded by friends and food is a gift… and one I can imagine in a place like KOI.

MY ROLE As an original concept, I imagined & developed this space in its entirety. I hand rendered the exterior 'mural', designed a custom wallcovering inspired by the 'mural,' created the mark, conceptualized the interior and exterior signage, and developed the entire 3D model based on actual and attainable materials.
